Purina 1, Purina 2 are photos of a small manufacturing facility served by rail. Next is a photo of a Warren Truss Bridge constructed from redwood in HO scale. Then , a photo that demonstrates my lecturing skills! And the last photo is a photo of a small oil company facility served by a single track for bulk delivery of oil.

In addition to my layout building and operating activities, I enjoy building railroad dioramas representing fictional or prototypical scenes of railroading activities. These are either incorporated into other layouts, left as stand alone dioramas or sold.

My attraction to model railroading began as a kid with a Lionel set. Got out of it for a while, back into it when my kids were pre-teens, out of it again as they grew up and once they moved out, I had the space to build in ernest. As the saying goes, the only difference between men and boys is the cost of their toys. I guess that's true in model railroading as well. In addition to scenery/diorama activities, we are running our railroads today with computers and usb ports. Loconet cables and decoders are as much a part of our language as locomotives and box cars.

A fascinating blend of required skills and mental gymnastics should serve to keep me well occupied during retirement.
